"Education is the most powerful weapon which   you can use to change the world". Nelson Mandela
Philosophy

I believe that the first years of a child's life is by far the most important, helping to lay the foundation for all intellectual and emotional development to follow. Through nurturing and individualised attention, I take great care to provide a warm, friendly, and fun environment for your child, while ensuring they receive the guidance and structure they need. I strive to nurture your child's ideas and imagination, acknowledge each child's individuality, and validate each personality. As children learn through play, age appropriate experiences and opportunities will be provided that support your child’s individual interests, strengths and abilities.

My goal is to provide a place where children know that they are accepted, loved, protected, and wanted; helping to install in each child a strong sense of self-worth and purpose. My job is to make sure that each child has numerous positive experiences and interactions throughout each day. It is my hope that when the day is done, and children go home, they feel happy and proud of themselves; eager to express the happenings of their day to you.

I feel that good communication between parent and provider is a very important part of a quality day care. Because of this, I am committed to creating a strong bond with you and your child, helping to ensure the best start to your child's life. My goal is that you feel completely confident and reassured when you leave your child in my care. Each child is different, unique, and special and will be treated as such. These carefree years are far too short. Therefore, I do not rush children through this fun filled time in their lives. Rather, each child is encouraged to develop and grow at their own pace. I understand that you are trusting me to care for your child, and I take this responsibility very seriously. I look forward to the opportunity to care for your child, while providing a positive influence in their life.

Programme and Curriculum

Childhood is a time for growing, learning and experiencing and involves a process of becoming, rather than a predetermined destination. Giving children time to grow, learn and experience life in a non-rushed and relaxed environment is an important foundation for future development. Following the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (2009) and the Early Years Framework for Australia (2009), your child will be involved in a play based learning programme that supports their interests and allows them to be active agents in their own learning and development. Open ended play experiences offered will allow for self-selection and shared learning as well as encourage your child to use imagination, solve and work through problems, think creatively, explore, take on different perspectives, make choices and have a sense of wonder, excitement and anticipation. Experiences will reflect your child’s individual interests and build upon experiences that happen at home and in the community such as cooking, cleaning and gardening as well as excursions to the local shops and park.

To document your child's learning journey with me, a beautiful portfolio is developed over time full of information and photographs. Your child's portfolio is an important tool in creating a link between here and the home environment. You are encouraged to add your own memories to the portfolio, for example, pictures of your family and stories from holidays and special celebrations.
